Community Schools

Community Schools were set up to recover the learning losses suffered by children owing to the lockdown imposed post-outbreak of COVID-19. The Children from economically weaker families suffered its impact the most. Similarly, the teachers working in private institutions endured income losses as private schools could not pay their salaries post-lockdown. Hence, the children and the teachers were at the receiving end of the crisis caused by the Pandemic. As a responsible social organization, we took the initiative of organisng Community Schools for children who suffered learning losses due to the Pandemic. There were challenges in putting the idea into practice. The community helped us overcome most of the difficulties. The ball was set rolling by identifying the villages, children and teachers affected by the Pandemic. Children alongside children with disabilities from poor and marginalized families were identified in a survey. The idea appealed to the teachers, who instantly related to it and immediately consented to be a part of this initiative against a stipend. The initiative was whole heartedly supported by our donors who made funds available to us without any objection. These community schools drew children mostly from weaker economic backgrounds. The initiative proved extremely beneficial indicated by the annual examination results of these children.
