Ganderbal

Since its establishment in 2001, Hope Centre has been delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services to people with disabilities across seven districts in two divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, with the steadfast support of donors. Among these districts, Ganderbal has been a focal point of extensive intervention, reflecting the Centre’s commitment to inclusive development and empowerment.

Over the past five years in Ganderbal alone:

  • 2,927 individuals have registered with the center, seeking rehabilitation and support.
  • Of these, 2,779 beneficiaries have continued to receive consistent follow-up services, ensuring sustained care and progress.

The Centre has distributed approximately 1,125 assistive devices, enabling people with disabilities to regain mobility, independence, and dignity.

Specialised prosthetic and orthotic services have been extended to nearly 400 persons with disabilities, addressing critical needs and improving quality of life.

  • Besides rehabilitation, Hope Centre is also running an intervention program on inclusive education in two blocks of Ganderbal. Through this initiative:
  • 40 children with unique learning abilities are currently receiving tailored educational and rehabilitative services, ensuring their right to quality learning in supportive environments.
  • Anganwadi centres in these blocks are being upgraded to become more accessible and child-friendly.
  • Capacity-building programs for staff are underway, equipping them with the skills and sensitivity needed to support children with diverse needs.

These interventions highlight Hope Centre’s holistic approach—combining medical rehabilitation, assistive technology, inclusive education, and long-term follow-up—to foster resilience and inclusion. The impact in Ganderbal stands as a testament to the Centre’s mission of empowering marginalized communities and ensuring that no individual is left behind in the journey toward dignity, independence, and equal opportunity.
