It is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to facilitate comprehensive services to Persons with Disabilities in rural areas. It is an outreach activity of the National Institutes/ALIMCO under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for providing comprehensive services to persons with disabilities at the grass root level and for facilitating creation of infrastructure and capacity building at the district level for awareness generation, rehabilitation and training of rehabilitation professionals. Given its expertise and experience of working with Persons with Disabilities, Hope Centre was entrusted with task of running the scheme in the district.
Preparing Children with Disabilities for School and Life
As per records, the district Ganderbal has about 9,611 people with disabilities, of which 3,063 are in the age group of 0–18. Our Inclusive Education Centre in Ganderbal, Jammu & Kashmir is dedicated to helping children with disabilities (ages 3–16) take their first steps toward learning.

Hope Centre Ganderbal has been selected as the implementing agency for running Senior Citizen Home (Ahat-e-Waqar) in Ganderbal. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The scheme is meant to improve the quality of life of Senior Citizens, especially indigent senior citizens by providing them basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care and entertainment opportunities and by encouraging productive and active ageing
